Summary0010053: Teaching storm dash to survivors
DescriptionOnce we learn storm dash, instead of immediately destroying the research station - keep it as a captured building.

The effect is that we teach storm dash to our survivors, giving them extra range for completing missions. Not sure how many would be appropriate, nothing too overpowering. Maybe just one or two tiles. This would be counterbalanced by the overlord moving further by that point as well.

The overlord would be able to destroy the research station as well, causing survivors to forget the spell (the player can keep it of course).

Isn't this is what castles are for?

Why would they forget how to do it after it is destroyed?

Castles give the survivors extra range for missions. When a castle is destroyed, the survivors lose that range. The castle provides the benefit only so long as it remains standing. (For the sake of argument... horses. Or maybe they just feel emboldened because of its impressiveness).

As for why they'd forget it when the research station was destroyed... game balance? Maybe the survivors suffer from amnesia or the research station is full of skelebot legs that the survivors graft into their legs so they can run faster.

Well the castles affect all survivors, period... if teaching storm dash was a mission with low success rate, and required the facility to still stand to teach new survivors, it could be limited in that way. Afterall, the facility was long with a couple parts (at least that's as far as i've seen it, maybe it's just my games), and would be pretty dangerous to the underexperienced survivor. Send them into the facility and risk personal harm or forego that 1 extra range?

Just 1 extra range would be okay without being too great, and once destroyed, since the player already knows it, it's not like it would pop up again, so any new survivors are out of luck.

I forgot about castles giving increased range when I suggested this idea actually.

So while they somewhat fill that role as well. My intent was to come up with something to make some of the feats a little better/more interesting. As it is, I use storm dash to jump over pits sometimes, and when I feel like accidentally suiciding into something for 2-3 hearts of damage - so teaching it to survivors seems a logical additional.

Honestly, might be okay if it was just a permanent +1 range, or if it required building an academy type building.
