Summary0010191: Storm dash with analog stick
DescriptionUsing an Xbox 360 controller, it's really difficult to storm dash with the analog stick. Hitting it repeatedly, I only managed one dash. Tried remapping movement to D-pad to get it to work easier, but that fails (see related issue 0010190).

There is a slider bar in one of the menus that allows you to adjust the sensitivity of a storm dash. Perhaps you should lower the bar in a bid to make it happen more frequently when using the analog stick.

Or maybe raise it, I forget.

I can give that a try and report back. Analog stick sensitivity is a little tricky as it is - I often find myself moving forward instead of crouching because I'm accidentally pressing down at a slight angle - so increasing sensitivity might exacerbate that problem (fat finger syndrome)

There's a different sensitivity other than just the analog stick sensitivity; it's called the time for double-tap or something along those lines, and it's in the main settings menu. You might change that to 500ms or similar and see if that helps.

I'm not convinced that storm dash and water dash should definitely stay in the game, though, anyway; they are starting to feel superfluous.

I 100% agree that they don't really fit. Storm dash makes you take increased damage, but despite this it's still the king of skipping entire levels. Maybe you shouldn't be able to jump while using it? Without jumping, you'll inevitably ram into an enemy and take massive damage. But then it would have to get something in return to actually have a use... I dunno, I just kinda feel sad to see it go forever, especially since it's got that nice fancy feat icon already. But in its current form, it's not really fitting in.

I agree with the 'sad to see it go' sentiment. Especially if Valley 2 is aiming to be a metroidvania-style game. I'd rather see slices/procedures based around making the storm dash necessary, otherwise this trends towards more of a generic platformer. It would be like if Metroid dropped the morph ball instead of designing tiny holes to roll through.

It's just one bridge too far on the feats, I think.

* Storm Dash is now the sixth and final feat you get, rather than the first.
** Additionally, in new worlds that are generated, there will now only be five skelebot research facilities in existence rather than six. This effectively removes storm dash from future worlds, but not existing ones.
** Why the removal? Well, it didn't really add anything except balance problems and control issues in this game, to be frank.
