Summary0001631: Defender mode currently broken when generating new game with 79 out 80 planets
DescriptionThe game seems to freeze at the assigning bonus ships phase of the initialization when you take 79 out of 80 planets. I could still move my mouse but I couldn't alt tab out to see if it was not responding or not.

I note that defender mode now has 32 homeplanet options rather than the previous 16 for defender mode.

Did a test, I can select all homeworld options and an extra planet. I assume there is a threshold limit for the bug. (it may just be my computer again if the process demands memory above and beyond 2 Gb to finish initializing the game)

It should now only let you select 78 out of 80 planets in this case. Can you verify that works without a freeze? It should, and everything else was correct here (the 32 instead of 16, etc).

When the 4.043 comes out I'll verify it. (tried 78/80 with 4.042 and it froze)

Hmm, then it may still: although, one of the fixes Keith put in might also have fixed this. Thanks!

It still freezes when taking 78/80, I've tried it in 4.043 three times. (same spot as well, step 15, assigning bonus ships )

Okay, apparently this was fixed by some unrelated changes since your report. I put in a new feature to test this:

* When in the lobby, if players Ctrl+click a planet that is a valid starting point, they will automatically claim all the planets that have not yet been claimed. Similarly, ctrl+right-clicking deselects all planets that player had previously selected. This shows up in the keybindings window under the Anytime controls.

However, I wasn't able to duplicate this in my testing. If you're still able to, please let me know the steps you're using, but I suspect it was simply something that got fixed by some other bugfix.

Thanks for the report!
