Summary0002453: AI Eye and Shield Spires
DescriptionOn a Planet with Shield Spires Mark III, which have 500 million HP and an AI Eye, it is very impractical to attack the other guard posts to eliminate the Eye. Guerrilla attacks with raid star ships don't do nearly enough damage to the shield spire to be able to take them down effectively. I'd recommend on planets with AI Eye, the guard posts like these get an HP hit.

For instance, I attacked a planet with only minimal defenses with raid starships and bombers starships and only got the shield spire down to about 85% before the entire force was killed. After many waves of ships, finally took the system a few gameplay hours later. Next system though has 2 of these T3 shield spires with an AI Eye:(

* AI Eyes always now seed next to the command stations of the AI, rather than next to guard posts, to prevent them from being under spire shield spheres.
** This won't help existing saves, but it will affect all new campaigns.

...which now makes it so it's always cheaper to beat up the AI Eye instead of the shield spheres. ...well, you can use siege starships on eyes, so I guess that works.

You know, that's true.

* Wormhole guard posts and AI Eyes now have command-grade hulls instead of ultra heavy.

That was an exploit? I'm just trying to figure out how the heck you're supposed to beat an AI Eye in the same system as a shield guard post at all.

Kill the shield guard post. However, that has become easier in the next version, with their health debuff.
