Summary0002474: Overhauling the Stealth Guard Post
DescriptionUntil the change in the AI eye behavior, I never even *knew* about the stealth guard post, especially considering building a command station after destroying all the visible guard posts made the eye go boom.

Even with the "Guard posts keeping this alive", people who don't know that the stealth guard post exists will still be confused and frustrated, especially if the SGP is right next to the Eye, so it looks like it's the thing receiving the normal reinforcements.

There's several different ways this could be handled.

One way would be to properly teach the player that the SGP exists somehow, preferably in the suggestion in another ticket of making cloaked ships only untargetable, still visible to the player, just requiring tachyoning before they can be hit. This would solve other problems at the same time, so should be considered as the "proper" long term solution.

Another option is to simply not let the SGP be a lifeline for the Eye. This keeps some players in the dark, but quickly removes confusion.

A more drastic solution, possible in addition to the first, is to change what the SGP is, from a completely ignorable unit to something actually useful to the AI in some way, leave it visible, but give it a long range tachyon beam and a few dozen offensive cloakers, giving select ships cloaking, but still able to attack, a la the planetary cloaker. It and the passive guard posts are the blandest guard posts in the game.

Cloaking isn't something I see a need to revamp in this fashion. There is an issue that right now the cloaked ships aren't showing on the planetary summary sidebar like they should, but that's the only fix I'm planning in this area at the moment.
