Summary0002778: Minor faction: Humman Starship
Descriptionthese star ships have cryogenics crew that have survived the war. they lay rest until activated and powered, these ship have living crew that can mature ship overtime improving itself. human controlled star ships have infinite range due to removing targeting inhibitors for more accuracy. they do however sacrifice accuracy and some shot miss especially at extreme ranges. losing these ship is great lose do human lives and cost AIP. however they are much harder to kill and they do tend to take control into there own hands engaging units only when they can win and escaping when they cant as these living humans not mindless machines. when they mature they get better at ship system and they also increase in effective range. they can only be used by players and there is rare spire star ship still left. as most of them where wiped out you most likely to encounter low level crewed star ships than spire/zenith. they can also could use knowledge to increase there weapons at rough cost of 10/100. every thing can be improved like reload speed to ship propulsion to ammo type. cost increases with every upgrade. once they reach general status they can produce one ultimate upgrade. to regeneration to exo shielding, or using experimental AI technology can create new effects for star ship shoots.

So what is the point of this ship? I mean, usually there is a point but from what I can tell you made a sniper ship. Which is pretty meh to me.

well tell computer to get 98% hit rate chance. and it set optimum range for it weaponry. but with humans they can go past optimum range for shear number of shoots just hoping one will hit to take it out and no it not sniper ship snipers can hit ships any range this cant, it has trouble hitting ships certain range so thus not sniper it just can shoot that far because it not limited in firing an target that far it doesn't mean it will always hit it target. it miss most time and they get better over time thus they can eventual hit planet wide but take some time to mature. these ship are different because they have living humans on board not just computers, thus getting them has benefits (no limit to range but limited accuracy), but since they are human lives u are dealing with they come at huge lose.

I'm still confused as to the point of this ship. You have penalties somewhat spelled out and a general idea of how it shoots, but you haven't given a point for this ship. All ships have a general role in this game. Bombers, (anti-structure, anti-starship, etc) fighters, (anti-bombers) siege starships, (anti-starship, anti-building) they all have a role but you haven't spelled out a role for this ship.

ship role is that it an capturble that in some what deep space, they where humans living on ship and still are there main role is to out wit other generic star ship. as they can defiantly kite and out range there generic automated range systems. they can ranging from any type of star ships from raid star ship to spire to dreadnought, they are very bad at targeting alot of little ships that why they lost war. but they can quickly take out large immobile structors as they so much easier to hit and star ships there very few of them compared to thousand of fleet ships. so they manly counter star ships and structors. so they could be any ship from bomber star ship to any build able star ship humans can make (spoiler warbird) the more dangerous the ships the more likely it was destroyed.
so they manly run away against fleet ships. so they are support role of taking out guard post from long range away. using there no limited range capability. but accuracy plays a role but since it immobile it take on shot to readjust.

So basically its an "uber"-siege starship with terrible accuracy but extreme range that has a heavy penalty if the ship is lost. I think your idea needs some work before it can be implemented. I also don't think x4000 is too crazy to have a ship with an accuracy-thing anymore. Since it was removed from all ships in 4.XXX. I also think it needs to have more value. As is, I'd rather lose 20 sieges starships than 1 of these. Which is also the problem, the sieges and bomber starships already take this role over.

so you wouldn't want to activate an warbird that you found that still survived. it not one particular ship if accuracy cant be role of it then it has to be it has range but increase and matures over time. and over time crew improve ship performance. like reload speed, speed, armor, health.

Here is the problem of "generating over time" abilities. As far as I know, it doesn't exist in AIW anywhere in any expansions. Why? Because in 1 game, thousands if not millions of ships die in a single campaign. As such, ships with generating-over-time abilities have a lot less appeal to those that have their abilities instantly. (Which is all of them except your suggestion) The only way this ship would be balanced is if it was on the level of Golems but even then, the Artillery golem already does this type of role, but better (as soon as the issues are fixed with it). Ships with penalties are just as difficult to balance so my suggestion would be to go back to the drawing board. I doubt x4000 will jump on this idea until its fleshed out.

I will have to agree that this sounds an awful lot like the artillery golem, just with experience gaining mechanism.

Although I like the basic idea (experience gaining perhaps customizable human spaceship), it could be an optional minor faction. But I'd also guess that implementing it would maybe take too much time for it to be free outside of any expansion. Also the ship idea clashes somewhat much with those customizable spire starships?

Also soMe_RandoM I hate to be an ass but your text is very painful and difficult to read with almost no punctuation and no line breaks - doesn't help getting the point across, sorry:)
