Summary0003502: Even with Spirecraft on Easy, Spirecraft Shield Bearers are not repairable.
DescriptionWith the Spirecraft set on easy all other Spirecraft are repairable except for Shield Bearers. This makes them pretty much into a one-use ship, as after a single battle they are down to 30-20% shield and provide little coverage. At current, when Spirecraft are on easy, Shield Bearers are among the least optimal choices, possibly even a bad choice.

Removing the Repair immunity or adding an inherent regen would fix this.

Yep, the core design of these and martyrs is that they are limited-use. The repairable thing doesn't change for them, unlike all other spirecraft.

fyi my thoughts is their main use is actually for a gate breach because they provide coverage vs that intial volley or 4 allowing you to cracck the defense with your opening volleys and pry an opening. thinking of them in this function they shouldnt be surviving anyway. though yes as a extra shield they would be nice but unrepairable means that is limited use since bombers eat shields of any kind.
