Summary0004118: Magic potions restore too much magic
DescriptionIf I've understood things correctly, magic potions are supposed to restore magic equal to its magic power, meaning a second-rank magic potion should restore 800 magic. I just restored almost 1800 magic with one though (from a little more than empty to full 1800), meaning it's more than twice as potent.

It's actually your magic power plus the power of the potion -- this is true for attack powers on basically everything, and same with healing powers.

My magic attack is 180, so it wouldn't come even close to the thousand points of difference.

I wonder though... Have to test something.

Whoa, that would be wrong, yeah.

Well, got a first-tier potion. It healed 1740 magic, which means it treated my magic power as 1340. Something is afoot here...

It seems to restore the same no matter what spell I used last or what spells are in my bar, so... yeah. Can't think of anything else to test.

I can confirm this, I restore the same with a tier 1 potion.

Edit: Also tried scrolls, same thing happened, which I think would be quite obvious since they share the same effect.

Finally found it!

* When using healing items or mana-restoration items, the magical attack value of the character was previously being included, which was a problem for a lot of reasons.
** Now it's just the base power of the item itself, which means that the effectiveness of these items is character-agnostic, which is a good thing so that you don't have to choose a good offensive character just to be able to heal.
** Additionally, mana-restoration stuff had some really outdated logic that was tripling its effectiveness invisibly and behind the scenes. Now it does what it says on the tin, too.
** The base effectiveness of tier 1 mana-restoration has been bumped up from 400 to 600 to compensate for these other changes.
