Summary0004494: Message when you pick up stuff from enemies
DescriptionCan we get a message in the log when we pick up items from dead enemies? Because they get sucked in I never know what I got from them, and I'm a bit anal about this, I like to know what I've picked up :)

This is intended, actually (I made a report about it myself). From the changelog:

The attractive items that get sucked over to you now play a more subtle sound effect when you pick them up, don't cause your character to do the pickup animation, and don't display any sort of message about what you are absorbing (you can always check your inventory, but the generalities should be pretty clear and the message spam overruns the log otherwise).

I figured it was intended (didn't see it in the patch notes tho, my bad), didn't realise it would cause probs with the message log tho. Apologies for not checking for another report :)

For now, I think this is really not something to do. It's something to consider potentially, but the thing is that you're picking up stuff at a rate of multiple per every few seconds. That means that if we show this in the log, there's really no room in the log for anything else -- even if we expand the log beyond 200 entries, you wind up having to do incredible amounts of scrolling to see anything.

My general feeling is that if you want to see the numbers of shards you have picked up, that means you're probably angling toward some goal of shards. So really what you want to see is the total number of shards you have, which you can already do from the inventory, and which is easy to track progress against.

It's possible we might need to do something else in the future, but I really want to avoid spamming too-trivial info (every amount of damage that enemies or players take, every little pickup or ability use, etc) into the main log.

Something like 0004559 would cover this without you needing to keep checking the C inventory.

But it's a minor point of convenience.
