Summary0004659: Increase player speed in lower level regions
DescriptionInstead of slowing down the monsters in low-level regions, why not speed up the player instead?

Seems that the only reason right now to spend time in regions far below the player's level is to clear out things like pylons and consciousness nodes. It's a bit tedious just running through to the last surface area to kill off the very underpowered bosses, might be good to speed this up a little bit?

I'm in favour of this, although I do have reservations about how slow it might make my character feel in higher level regions...

Right, I think that would make players feel really sluggish a lot of the rest of the time. That said, I do have a speed spell planned which would help with this -- the idea that you'd take more damage while the speed spell is on, but you'd also move vastly faster. That ought to be just perfect for lower-level regions in particular, I'd expect.

I'm strongly opposed to any systematic change in character speed. I'm fairly slow to adjust my reflexes, and if I'm regularly getting either faster or slower depending on where I am, I'm going to get killed a lot. I'm fine with particular characters being either faster or slower than average, because that changes less frequently than the region level I'm in. (At least, it does now that firebats don't instakill...)

A "go faster" spell wouldn't trigger my reflex adjustment issues, because it's a big jump rather than a small one. (That made more sense in my head than when I wrote it down.)

I love this.

The new spell "storm dash" is now in, which effectively solves this as well.
