Summary0008731: Spells doing too much damage
DescriptionAll of my spells are hitting much harder than they should. The attached screenshot shows how hard a level 43 fireball is supposed to hit (against an enemy of equal level) and how hard it actually hits.

This might be an unintended side effect of the fix to 0008699.

This is also occurring with spells cast by monsters; I recently took 200 damage in one hit from a lightning tower in a battleground with ranged attack strength around 100, and I had somewhere around 80 deflection rating.

Thanks -- with the screenshot, that's definitely a bug and it probably works both ways from enemies and against you.

Regarding the lightning tower, was it the same level as you? The deflection rating is just a representation of your level versus theirs.

The lightning tower was the same level as I was. By deflection rating, I meant the stat that appears on Resilient Form enchants.

Thanks!

* Fixed a bug in the recent post-1.1 versions where ranged attacks (of both the player and the enemies) were doing roughly 2x the amount of damage they should have been. This was causing players to feel like they were constantly low on health (as, naturally, they were), and causing enemies to really be something you could chew through way faster than expected.

Just out of curiosity, what was causing this issue?

Just a multiplier function that was getting used in two different places, one of which it shouldn't have been. Refactoring-cruft, basically.

Ack, I hate it when I do that kind of thing. It happens even to the best of us. ;)

Thanks for sharing. :)
