Summary0009861: Detached Fleet Control Core
DescriptionThe fleet control cores are one of the components of the central AI processing facilities, they are in charge of maintaining control over all the millions of fleet ships the AI possesses in this galaxy and the next. One of these cores must have fallen off the back of an astro train on the way to the control facility or maybe the AI just likes keeping spares that far away. Either way this core vastly outstrips the weak AI facilities in our home command station, plugging it into our networks would allow us to maintain much larger fleets. We cannot trust it though, from the data we gathered during the first AI war we can determine that the core will remain loyal for an hour but after that it may develop sentience and join the rest of the AI. We can't have that happen while it's in charge of our fleets so we will rig it up with timed explosives before connecting it to the network.

The detached fleet control core is a capturable that, if captured, increases the caps of all fleet ships (at very least doubles them, possibly more). However the core will self-destruct one hour after capture, along with all the ships that exceed their cap (over-capped types have their units destroyed randomly until the cap is reached). The core only affects ships built from the space dock, not minor faction units or starships (not sure on facIVs and fabs).

The limiting factor here is your economy, you get to field a huge army while the core is active but you can only build as much as your one million stored resources plus your economic output will deliver in that one hour and then you still need to use those units. In other words, use the core wisely. It probably does not need to generate any AIP by itself, capturing the planet for a temporary benefit should be impact enough.

The core has no effect while owned by the AI. If the AI destroys the core the over-capped ships are pruned in the same way as during the self destruct.
