DescriptionThat extra 25% damage reduction against earth using the earth shield (or water/water, etc...) seems so marginal. In the end, all the shields block damage, and whichever one I can create first on a continent is the one I've been using. Maybe other players are micro-managing their shields, but for such marginal damage reduction, it really doesn't seem worth it.

Perhaps instead of (or in addition to) the marginal damage reduction, shields could do something else for you? Maybe air shield lets you move freely in wind storm? Water shield lets you move freely in water? Earth Shield boosts your melee spells? etc. etc.?
