Summary0001006: Autocannon Minipods
DescriptionWith the dropping of the swarm bonus, the Autocannon Minipods appear to be under-performing and I would say they need some sort of balance tweak to make them desirable. The enclosed shot shows how badly they've been performing in the new version of AI War. Since the Swarm bonus is gone, they could possibly use:

-A boost to attack power, as even with the update they did get to base firepower it's still very low.
-Multiple shots. Ala spray and pray from the cannon.
-Faster RoF, currently at 1 second, which is admittedly pretty fast already.
-Other?

Ok, my first guess was to just bring back the cluster bonus for those, but when I asked Chris he brought up that it really encouraged blobbing and we really don't want to do that. Which is very true.

So, we could just go with a big attack buff to bring it up to somewhere around where they were at max cluster-boost. But that wouldn't be terribly interesting; in a lot of ways they would just be a different flavor of eye-bot or raptor.

So we're looking for more interesting ideas. Please chime in :)

One possibility would be that the more of them there are attacking the same target they would get a slight armor-piercing bonus. We wouldn't want to go too far with that of course.

This would encourage blobbing again, but these guys remind me of a hive of angry bees.

Maybe they could inflict an accuracy or vision penalty on things they were attacking? Hmm...

Or maybe design them specifically to fight low armor targets? Rapid fire usually works much better against soft targets.

Alternatively have them wear down the target's armor to make them useful support against very tough targets.

Minipods got a lot of love a little while back, so marking as closed...
