DescriptionThis would basically be a building that would be used to buff human military units within a certain area.

The important thing about this one would be that unlike other buildings, you could place this outside of cities, though with one restriction, which is that it could not be too close to any city (this distance would be a relatively small number, like 4 or 5).

The idea would be that this building would have a certain radius around it.... say, works on any unit that is 3 tiles away or closer, or whatever.... and it gives human units in that radius some sort of stat boost. Exactly what that is, I havent thought of yet, and it's possible that doing multiple types of outposts, each providing a different type of boost, would be doable.

It would be a fairly expensive building, perhaps also limited by the cities themselves (like, if you have 3 red cities, you cant have more than 3 red outposts) and it could not be too close to other outposts of either color.

The idea here is to give the player an option to further work with military units, and specifically an option that has a lasting effect (in that the building isnt like a token and doesnt just vanish after a time) and can affect multiple units at once. Human units only though. It would have a high health level, and be difficult to get rid of, so you'd have to be sure of where you're putting it before dropping it down. Building repair and possibly smite would both work on it as normal?

The buff would need to be enough that it could throw off the balance in that area.

The idea is a little vague in some spots, but I think the basic concepts and reasoning should be fairly clear.

This is a really excellent idea; so much so, that we're adding these in the first expansion. :)

* Expansion 1: Added a new military-category building for all factions: Military Outpost.
** Allows you to project force out of your towns -- place these, and any enemy units crossing them will be damaged by an "attack of opportunity" from the outpost.
** But beware: these cannot be smited, and military units will not choose to attack this (they will only damage this if they are attacking another unit who happens to be standing on this tile). So place with care, as they will become a semi-permanent fixture!
** These cost nontrivial amounts of lumber and diamonds to place, so they aren't exactly cheap. But they are a great way to project military force around the map in new ways.
