Summary0001199: "Lantern" starship - Spire.
DescriptionLantern/Illuminator/Purifier

I don't know anything about the Spire's background, but the title "Light of the Spire" got me thinking about Light. A ship based around the concept of illumination seems natural. I came up with several concepts for a "Lantern ship." The image in my head has a faceted gem in the front of the ship that shines brightly - and lethally - when the ship is in action.

The name also suggests some anti-cloaking capability, though I only see that as a flavor item.

1.) Lantern - Does steady damage to all nearby enemy units. Unlike Major Electric, it is not armor penetrating, so while the damage can be severe heavily-shielded units can stand up to it. Particularly lethal to low-mark swarms of units, which tend to have less armor than their higher mark cousins.

Lantern variant A - Doesn't inflict regular damage at all - instead it inflicts minor attrition damage in a wide radius and completely prevents repair and reclamation.

Lantern variant B - Inflicts % damage. Gimmicky.

2.) Siege/Purifier - A more offensively focused ship. Intended to be an alternative to the classic Siege vessel, although the proposed design may be of more use to AI than humans. The Purifier inflicts small but steady damage on all enemy buildings (& units?) in the sector, enough to kill off harvesters within a few minutes and inflict steady damage to turrets. It may also give debuffs such as repair disable, construction disable, and resourcing disable. It would need a long-range support weapon so it would stay in the rear naturally.

Given the lack of AI turrets it might need something else to be a viable player ship, such as a negative munitions/armor boost on enemy ships. Which gives me an idea -

3.) Illuminator - Buffbot ship.

This version would give small buffs to most any aspect of a fleet's operations, from repair rate to attack damage. I havent thought this one out, just tacking it on the end here :^)
