Product Version0.907 Start Of Alpha Round 2
Summary0012391: Eliminate 'aim at floor' mechanic, or make it a more distinct mechanic.
DescriptionWhy have 'aim at floor' at all? Why not just allow aiming anywhere within range? Is there a mechanic where I would want to specifically target the floor but not the square (or vice-versa?)

Why can't I just shoot at mines?

Three words in one: AOE. There are many cases where I want to hit targets with AoE (usually a rocket), but don't have a target right where I want it. I probably would never use the Plasma Cannon if it weren't for AoE; the Siege Bot and Epic Siege Bot would be MUCH weaker.

Edit: as far as mines are concerned: Trap Avoidance. Trust me, it doesn't look like much, but it's very beneficial, possibly my favorite propulsion stat.

Sorry, wasn't clear. Too many bugs filed at once :)
totally get the utility of being able to aim at any point.
I was trying today -- either make the floor vs. Non-floor really mean different things, or just leave it at ' let me shoot this square', without talking about floors at all.
also its odd to be able to shoot all kinds of things w/o 'floor shot', but not mines.

Sorry, this is a beloved feature with people, and really useful.

I think the idea is that we shouldn't have to press Shift to shoot the floor/mines.

Should we?

If you want to be able to see where you are aiming when it comes to AOE damage, yes, you should have to hold shift. Otherwise you can't see anything as your mouse moves around, because constantly everything is covered in the targeting overlay.
