For a lot of players, I figure that they will want to have a specific playstyle that always emphasizes lots of engines or shields or whatever, and this prevents the grief of constantly having to do that EVERY mission start. I figure that's better. |

Could it be an option I've lost count of the number of battles I've entered were my settings have not been optimal for the situation. |
