Summary0014948: Andor providing unwanted help to races makes them hated
DescriptionRegardless of what party is in power (I've seen Roboticists and Abstainers both doing it), the Andor seem to be happy to assist other races having trouble with their RCIs, without any prompting at all. This is fine if it's the Skylaxians or the Peltians they're helping, but I had a game where the Evucks wiped the Andor out for no other reason than the Andor kept offering them unwanted assistance.

I've checked, and both races' relations towards each other will change, as will the whichever of receiving race's RCIs is being aided.

This is an Observer game I started specifically to watch this behavior, but as I said it's happened in real games too. I don't know if this behavior is intended or not, but it's problematic as the player has no way to even ask them to stop, and some parties (the Abstainers, especially) seem like they'd be against providing aid to other races. It's also a service the player can't ask them to provide.

Personally, to some extent, I think this is part of the charm/difficulty of the Andor, but yeah, I've seen them love people to their own death a few times too. Perhaps there needs to be some limits, like Andor try to help people wth lower relations less (so they don't just nose dive their relations with some race, the lower it gets, the less often/likely they'll offer assistance). Maybe something like this already exists, but it's not balancing correctly yet?

This will allow the larger negative relation impacts to remain (thereby making player initiated acts still significant), but won't make the Andor commit suicide through kindness as much?

I have noticed this as well. In my run the Andors were suddenly -200 in the opinion of the Evucks, whereas the Andors thought of them with +200, this continued to create a neverending war between those two nations with the Evucks falling below -600. (The only way to ever stop the war costing 2.5 million credits to broke a 3 year peace treaty, which means I have to wait until time travel tech).

I had no idea how to stop/prevent the reputation loss and I couldn't find a good ingame explanation of how it worked seemingly without any input from me. It seems like a somewhat broken mechanic.

Thanks!

* If a race likes the Andors less than 0, or the Andors like a race less than -50, then they will no longer do their "Send In Assistance" action for that race. That prevents a variety of cases where ingrateful races could spiral into Andor hatred.
