Summary0015059: Terraforming mission unbeatable/impossible
DescriptionSame thing I'd mentioned in the thread for this version of the game, just forgot to put it on here so doing that now.

Relates to the "someone wants terraformers" mission that can pop up at the start of the game. Previously, I'd mostly just been crashing through this one with cloaking, since it always looked like it'd get a bit tedious with all the defense stuff, so I hadnt known how bad the issue really was. Having to actually deal with all of this though, I enter the mission, and it very quickly get so absurd that it may well be impossible, or so close as to not matter. And I dont say something like that easily.

This is on Misery difficulty of course, it might be not as much of a problem on the lower ones, however, considering how monstrous the difficulty spike is between this and any other battle type on Misery, I have to imagine that there's at least something of a difficulty jump regardless of which difficulty mode the player is on.

There such a completely absurd number of ships that there's just no way to deal with them. Frankly, I'm surprised the game didnt enter massive slowdown when I was trying to play through it, due to the sheer amount of ships/bullets that were everywhere. And of course all of the many turrets and things have to be considered too. And this is all with the funky probe glitch in place, the one that displaces all of the probes, effectively removing them from the battle. If this mission is this bad WITHOUT the probes, meaning, with full room to maneuver, it must be dramatically worse WITH them in place, where you wont have room to maneuver.

I'm not sure what I could suggest for this one to balance it out... it seems more like the entire format of the mission needs some altering. Even if the difficulty was lower, dealing with that huge number of enemy ships/turrets/installations/whatever would take absolutely forever compared to any other mission type in the game. So that's a definite problem as well.

I think this might depend on the number of Emergency Response Hangars present in the battle. I played it twice (also on Misery) to see what it was like. In one case there was only one ERH and I survived for a while, so maybe a better player could have won - of course this was without the Spy Probes, so maybe not when the relevant bug is fixed!

But the second time, there were three ERH's present. The player is not able to dodge when there is literally a wall of bullets between you and the objective...

Thanks!

* Emergency Response Hangars are now forbidden from seeding in the Deliver Terraforming tech quest type.
