Product Version1.016 (Finish Him!)
Summary0015167: Feature: "Game Length" or "Game Speed" option when starting a new game
DescriptionBasically, having the ability to pik a "game length" when starting a new game would be nice. So you can pick "super fast" and complete a game in an afternoon. or "eternal" and it would take months.

My thought is that this would be accomplished by multiplying time passage by a scaling factor. So you could pick an option like "super fast" and each day that passes would be the equivalent to 10 days passing in the normal speed. This would make for a "quick and dirty" playthrough that would be done (one way or another) in an afternoon of play. Or you could chose "Eternal" and it takes 10 days to accomplish what you would in 1 day at "normal" speed. It may take you weeks or months of real time to take the game to completion, but you have very fine control over what happens.

Basically what this ends up doing is alllowing the player to chose their level of involvement - from mostly observer (very quick games - where only a few actions will be chosen, but they can have insane -barely managable - effects on the simulation) to very slow games (Extremely hands-on, since each action has very little impact but the simulation also progresses slower, meaning you make hundreds or thousnds of carefully chosen actions).

Not a big deal to me if never implemented, but may make the game "accessable" to a wider range of people. People like me who like the nitty-gritty strategies can choose slow speeds to play very intricate long games; other people who don't feel the need for control and like to watch the trainwrecks or get that really difficult win with just a few choices to influence the outcome with can choose fast games - and the developers can adjust balance of the "normal" speed games instead of having to worry about wether or not changes that appeal to one group might decrease appeal to the other. :)

For your information my last 3 games each spend about 6 hours(in game map time) to complete

Also, for reference, my last (completed) game took an estimated 20 hrs to complete (but was a no planets switch hands complete, and so was much more difficult than a normal complete).
