Summary0015248: Mantis Suggestion: "Edit" Allows Removal of Attached FIles
Description(Or at the very least, removal of the link to the file).

Currently in Mantis, once you upload something, you can neither update nor remove the file uploaded. Luckily this hasn't been a HUGE problem yet, but the first time someone tries to attach a screenshot from their "my images" folder and acidentally uploads the "not safe for work" image right next to it without realizing, it could cause some issues. ;)

Unfortunately, it's an all-or-nothing thing with mantis, which is not code I wrote. Anyone with delete permissions can delete ANYTHING, and for people signing up without any sort of verification, that could be disastrous. I've had this request before, and I agree with you it would be awesome to have. But for now, the main thing if that happens is just to email an admin quick, heh.

Lol-let me start by saying sorry for re-opening all the tickets you closed - it just happened that way, I'm not trying to be annoying or anything.

It occurred to me that even though you have to give "permission" to delete files, there may be display level solutions. So even though newbies have "delete" permission, the actual delete button would only show for admins or the author/owner of the post (basically anyone that can get to the edit screen).

Also, deletion of the files isn't necessarily needed, if the "link" to the ticket can be deleted (or even just supressed/hidden/made private) the file would remain protected, while still allowing the owner/author to remove the "file" from the ticket.

These options may have occurred to you already, and may have simply been too much effort to be worth it, in which case, my appologies for re-opening the ticket, feel free to close it back up without comment, I'll just assume you already considered these points and rejected them as well. There've been about 6 files I'd like to have deleted so far though, so it is somewhat valuable. (though not to the point they couldn't be handled on a case-by case basis through admin emails should that even be necessary.)

As noted, I'm not the coder of the mantis bug tracking system. I did indeed spend 8+ years as a web developer, but I worked in other languages. I'm not at all fluent in PHP, and it's a large and complicated site.

Ahh, I though Mantis was the database system, didn't realize it was the whole presentation system as well.
