[/quote] Building on [b]Hartmann's[/b] suggestion, what if Wars required 2 triggers. The first having a lower threshold and giving you a message like 'The Thoraxian military is mobilising', with relations deteriorating for x months before they openly declare war. The number of months could be different for each race. Also this would reduce the number of wars started because a fleet is away from home... As by the second check there may no longer be a 'weak target' to back-stab. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, just something to bear in mind. Also not all races would be so obvious (Evucks?) or give you much of a warning (Thoraxians) During the military build-up there could be new dispatch missions: Delay war - adds months to military-build up, a cold-war situation Try to avert war Redirect the aggression elsewhere More months between build-up and war would make it easier to change the outcome. E.g. Thoraxians just have 2 months warning would be nearly unstoppable, Skylaxians 5-10 months or similar would be much easier to deal with. Also I'm not sure if they should be friendly/hostile or political deals. But I like the suggestion all the same. | ||||
