Summary0017332: Main Screen & Overlays
DescriptionI've not being able to test this for over a week now, so I'd forgotten there was an underground map view. So when I clicked on an event about "Thoraxians being discovered" I was taken automatically the underground view.

Whilst that seemed to appropriate, I didn't recall the shortcut to get back to the original map view (I now know its the tab key). The initial reaction was annoyance, but then I thought there probably is a button icon/button, but found none apparent on this screen. Would it be possible to include one?

For new players intuitiveness is quite important so early frustrations to just close a window should probably not solely rely on a person knowing the keyboard shortcuts.

Also didn't see any text/indicator anywhere in either the main map view or this this underground representation. Without know that there's such thing as an underground view, it still comes across as a graphical glitch. I know now its not a really a bug, but jarring to a new players when you're not aware of even an escape command sequence to leave this screen.

The filter/overlays are incorporated into the icon set (bottom centre). I kept thinking it would be great to see a toggle from the underground to the above ground view incorporated into the main view and also have the other filter included there. Is this possible to do something like what I mocked up in the screen shot?

The current filtering interaction requires a repeated cycle of two clicks (and review of list) per filter. By including in the main view only one click is required, which ensure you're focusing on you city in a more seamless manner.

The underground button is already planned, I added the relevant ticket.

I totally agree that the other overlays could use their own dedicated buttons. Menu-driven is not what this game needs, and the overlays are about the most-used part that is still menu driven.

This is way clearer in the new hud. Thanks!
