Summary0017446: Tachyon-immune ships should cloak-boost lower mark ships
DescriptionConsider: I have two scouts; a Mk2 and a Mk4, and I'd /like/ the Mk4 to boost the Mk2 to get it past a tachyon guardian, but the Mk2 keeps insisting on boosting the Mk4, which doesn't need it courtesy of being tachyon-beam-immune.

From v3.081: "Scouts with cloaking boosters no longer will ever boost ships with a mark level lower than their ship level. Thus the in multi-level scout groups, the lower-level scouts will support the higher-level scouts, thus maximizing the chance of overall survival within the group."

Unfortunately, that makes the Mk4's cloaking boost ability completely useless, as the only ships it will boost are Scout Starship IVs, which are also Tachyon immune.

So: I think that ships that are tachyon-immune should be exempted from the "Don't boost lower-mark ship" rule.

And actually, I'm not sure the above rule is even desirable in most cases. If I've got one Mk3 and three Mk1 scouts to get past a Tachy guard, the above would have two of the Mk1s boost the Mk3 and the other Mk1. This leaves two vulnerable ships to get destroyed. I'd prefer to have the Mk3 boost all three of the others; it might still survive thanks to its better speed, life, and radar dampening, but even if it doesn't, I've then got three scouts left.

I'm not sure there is an "optimal" algorithm for picking the booster/ees, but you might consider allowing it to be selectable: If the player selects a ship with a cloaking booster, and then R-clicks on a cloaked ship, it's probably safe to assume they want the first ship to boost the second's cloak (possibly deactivating the second's booster in the process).

I'm pretty sure that "tachyon immune unit with cloaking boost" means "Scout Drone Mk4 and only Scout Drone Mk4", because Scout Starship Mk4 doesn't have cloaking boosting, last I checked.

Yes, but I prefer to describe the problem in general terms, so that when they (hopefully) fix it, they do it in a way that will handle any future ships that might have that combination, instead of making a special-case rule for the Scout IV.
