Summary0018658: Systems with range_chases_until_within stop rotating if set to Dumbfire
DescriptionWhen a system with range_chases_until_within is set, that ship will not rotate toward the player once the player reaches the target range (or closer). This is a problem if they have Dumbfire attacks because those are stuck firing in whatever direction the enemy ship happens to be facing.

Try: parent_entity_rotates_to_face_target_when_this_fires

In general I would like more separate control over facing and targeting.

I tried this and:

a) it doesn't work practically because it causes the ship to "flip" instantly 180 degree back-and-forth rapidly once it reaches the range_chases_until_within value.

b) it doesn't work conceptially because the goal of dumbfire on my ships is that their shots aren't going directly at you if you are moving to avoid them. With this setting, the ship snaps to fire dead-on, basically as if it didn't have dumbfire at all.
