Summary0018797: Arachnid Guard Posts lie about what they can shoot at
DescriptionTooltip says they do "grievous harm to starships, fortresses, forcefields, guard posts, guardians, and turrets."

However, they shoot at lots of things that aren't starships, including things like Zenith Siege Engines (ship cap of 16).

This is particularly frustrating to me right now because Zenith Siege Engines seemed like a great way to take out a Paranoid subcommander's pile of arachnid and spire shield guard posts, right up until the arachnids starting oneshotting them. That seems like exactly the situation they were designed for, and in fact I went out of my way to unlock them specifically to kill this subcommander planet, and then they were useless.

Please either make the Arachnid Guard Post shoot at only the things it says it will, or clarify the tooltip.

If the rule it uses is 'only shoot at things whose ship cap doesn't scale with the lobby unit cap setting', then that's terrible, because there's no indicator in the game for that. I don't think you can tell if a unit's cap scales even by checking the wiki.

They also don't shoot at transports, which I actually WOULD have expected.

For 8.024:

* Fixed various misuses of "It's" and other typos in the loca files.

Specifically, the bug was the tooltip not making clear that the list given is a list of examples, not an exhaustive list.

Thanks :)

Would really prefer these be switched to target the same things as OMDs... Even if the tooltip is clear that it isn't an exhaustive list, how are you supposed to tell that it can shoot at zenith siege engines? Those aren't starships, they just shouldn't be targeted.

The bug isn't just that the tooltip isn't accurate, it's that you can't predict the behavior by reading the tooltip. Whatever rule these things are using, it's not obvious from the tooltip; I think it's something like 'shoot at anything with a ship cap less than X', where X is less than 20 but greater than 16. That's a weird rule, one that's only going to be obvious if you explain it like that in the tooltip, and even then, it's such a weird rule that I think it would be better to change it to something more intuitive.

OMDs, by contrast, do exactly what they say on the tin: shoot at anything at least as big as a starship.

I mean, it's really not that big a deal, it just annoys me.
