Summary0002102: Nuclear Command does not play well with Fabs, Mk4 Factories
DescriptionThere are a number of capturable items that aren't immune to nukes, and as such make playing with nuclear command pretty much a no-go.

Fabs (Major)
Factories (Major)
Grav Drills (Minor)
Black Hole Machines (Minor)

I think Rebel Colonies and Human Settlements are not immune as well.

To clarify, have you actually seen the "Nuclear Command" AI modifier actually result in the destruction of any of those units?

Would it matter if they're destroyed or not? I'd wager they need supply, and if a planet is nuked, well... bye-bye supply.

They don't need supply, specifically for this case.

Yes, I just did, that's why I reported it. I've seen it for the fabricators (just now), and black hole machines, grav drills, and captive human settlements previously, and suspect the same thing would happen for mk4 factories and rebel colonies.

Ok, I can just make all those immune to nukes.

As for supply, my understanding is that the Nuclear Command option doesn't destroy either resources or supply, otherwise it would just be a "force me to lose" option in all but the most edge of scenarios.

* Advanced Factories, Fabricators, and Captive Human Settlements are now immune to nukes.

For some of those other things, like Black Hole Machines, etc, I don't think they need the protection. But stuff that is optional to destroy does make sense for that.

Regarding Nuclear Command, I can't remember if it destroys resources or not, but it does destroy supply.

Would that not make it impossible for the player to have supply on any planet other than their homeworld and planets bordering their homeworld?

The scorched earth AI does that, I know, if you get 2 scorched earth types, but I thought the nuclear command ai modifier was far more tame.

I really don't remember. It was implemented long before the concept of supply ever existed.

Nuclear Command does not destroy supply, and does not destroy resources, it only destroys all non-nuke immune ships. Scorched Earth AI type destroys everything.

Ah, so much for my memory. ;)

Thanks for the clarification there.

As an update, the Mk4 Factory survived Nuclear Command, so it was just a problem with the fabricators I guess.
