Summary0021796: Teaching AI Mode
DescriptionWhat if the AI would give you text popups when it was going to do things like alert the player of things like
"You've left Murdoch undefended; my threat is coming for it!"
"The Hunter Fleet has found a weakness on Old Murdoch!"
"You've disturbed the guards on Even Older Murdoch; they're going to become Threat now"
"My forces attacking New Murdoch are going to try to sneak past your defenses to attack Murdoch"

This could be enabled as a Setting in game, or perhaps attached to a given AI faction or something.

If people really like it I could probably make it happen.

Good idea to be enabled for easier difficulties by default.

I like the idea of this being a galaxy option that's on by default in general. And then people can just turn it off (even in-game) if they don't like it.

When I write the lines, should it be from the point of view of the AI? Or a human Science/Tactical officer?

I think that having it be antagonistic from your enemy would be an opportunity for humor and personality, as well as sticking more easily in the minds of the players. Rather than having Helpful Joe over here telling you what to do, you have your enemy trying to humiliate you and displaying their utter lack of respect or fear of you by pointing out your mistakes. It's basically the AI pointing out that you're a child to it.

I'll get the journal entries thing in very soon, next couple of days, incidentally. I assume that's what you'd use for this.

I could just use the QueueLogMessage() code for starters

Yep, that would work in the shorter term.
