DescriptionCurrent state of the game is such that with all the extra things to build because turrets and frigates come in at full capacity that metal is almost always in a state of either drain or below half when playing anywhere near "fast". And the metal tech upgrade is actually a trap because it has pitiful value in comparison to two direct upgrades to the home command system. And even with the pair of direct upgrades you just don't have enough metal a lot of the time!

Home Command 700 metal/s doesn't improve with mark level.
Human Settlements (start with 2-5 at home system) 520 and +260 per mark.
Economic Command 250/s and +150/s per mark.
Standard metal deposit 60/s and +30/s per mark. (Home system usually starts with at least 5)

Two direct upgrades to the home system results in an extra +1300 metal/s with defaults. And potentially closer to +2800/s at max human settlements. For 2K science only.

One level of metal tech for 4K science results in under +200/s early. Indeed to even come close to matching you need over 43 metal deposits for the low end match. Or to put it another way probably 10+ planets need to be taken incurring AIP. And you still paid twice as much science.

Bump metal generation at the basic deposits up to 75 and +50 per mark to start with please. And perhaps knock 1000 science off the cost of the tech upgrade.

* The Metal Generation tech has had its per-unlock cost reduced from 4k for each of three levels to instead 3k for each of three levels.
** It also now has the following description:
*** Early on, consider directly upgrading your home command station fleet (from the fleet sidebar tab) for stronger gains. The metal generation tech is more effective when you have a lot of planets.

* Previously, Metal Harvesters gave 60 metal per second at mark 1, plus 30 per mark as they went up in levels.
** They now give 75 and 50, respectively.
