| Description | Basically, all the ships bought from the zenith trader quickly become completely overwhelmed after AIP gets past the second increase, the only 2 that really remain somewhat useful are the two nanocaust ships which deal zombification and also happen to be the cheapest to rebuild. Most obvious is the macrophage, costing a whopping 2 million metal when it's even outclassed damage wise by 2 of the 3 other ships from the trader, as they atleast have damage bonuses to stacks. Do to their cap, you'll only ever really use them on your primary chokepoints if you even bother to build them at all, and consequently they will die, a lot. Due to this I think that, unless the trader macro gets adjusted to justify it's cost, it's metal cost should atleast be reduced by half. I believe a good way to keep them all relevant throughout a whole game would be to put them all under alien tech, like all the stuff added to the trader in DLC2. Perhaps even having their galaxy wide cap scale with tech level. | ||||

I wouldn't increase their galaxy-wide cap, because that doesn't fix any strength problems the units have. I remember before the Macrophage had a fixed level it became incredibly powerful with increased Mark levels (from upgrading planetary command). So some balancing might be needed, but I like the idea. Otherwise the remaining Trader items would have to lose their Mark increases to make sure the rest remains competitive. |
