Summary0025577: New unit idea - 'Rising Tide' big ship
DescriptionBeen playing Path of Exile and was inspired by the Wintertide Brand skill, which rises in power over time, until it hits full power and chews through enemies.

Beta 3.507 added tag_to_spawn_from_for_build_point_for_per_second_construction which allows for a parent unit to construct children from a grab bag of possible units.

So, I'm imagining a big ship (cruiser? destroyer? golem?) which produces two units as children. It mostly produces fast shortlived melee drones that self-damage as they attack, but it occasionally produces an artillery drone with much higher damage and a little bit of self-attrition.

Since the artillery drone has attrition and the melee drones don't, during an extended period out of combat it'll gradually lose all of its artillery drones and have a full complement of melee drones. But since the melee drones have extremely high self damage, they rapidly destroy themselves in combat. As they get replaced, any new melee drones will also destroy themselves, but the artillery drones will stick around. Tuned right, in a long enough fight the children should be almost entirely artillery drones.

To really double down, give the artillery drones vampirism and the trait where they do more damage the more of them that you have.
