Summary0004806: Auto-mapping is too "blocky"
DescriptionFor some reason automap feature of current location works in "pieces". You automap one piece of level, and it will not automap anything until you'll go to the edge of it. Then next piece of map will suddenly appear.

It is not a much of issue for main, "dungeon" levels, and for "buildings" maps, because here pieces are too big to hinder something. But when I am going into cave, it's a totally different matter!

Let's see it in detail. On screenshot Caves1.png my hero stands just at the edge of current mapped "chunk". There is nothing special about it, but I am cannot see anything on map beyond my point neither up, nor left.

If I make one move up or left (see Caves2.png), some chunk of automap immediately reappears! But it will be only "upper" or "left" part - anything beyond that still invisible on map (and clearly visible with my eyes). Argh. It became especially annoying on edges and corners: I need to go exactly in tiny space in it to make automapping trigger. Yes, it became better in 0.522 (in .521 it sometimes didn't want to map exactly _this_ or _those_ zone at the edge of the map - no more), but still have "edge" triggering.

Also, I noticed that for some reason automapping do not like pure horizontal surfaces. When I am not on the ground, it maps giant pieces of level - 10-15 meters in any direction. But when it's a solid earth under feet - it become greedy and give me, like, one meter per trigger.

Well, it looks too artificial for me. I can understood absence of "real-time" mapping. But can it be changed not to "edge" mapping, but "overlap"? If every pieces of automap will trigger, say, on the 1/4 to the edge of current piece, it would be much more "natural" and also will remove issue with edges.
