Summary0005022: Destroyed rooms sometimes not rendering correctly
DescriptionSeveral destroyed rooms have rendered with null space. Movement in the null space is erratic. Leaving and re-entering the room does not fix it, nor does reloading the game.

Oh boy, reminds me of the weirdness of Glitch city from the 1st gen Pokemon games.

Can you post the world file with you standing in the room? Thanks!

Thanks!

* Fixed an issue in recent versions with one of the destroyed room templates drawing glitchily.
** This won't fix existing rooms that were generated, but it will prevent any new ones from happening.

Though I couldn't duplicate it having the pink background like you were seeing. That pink background should be the sky -- are you normally seeing the sky as pink? If so that would indicate that you have dynamic skies turned on but your GPU doesn't support it somehow, despite supporting shader model 3.0.

I'd like to know a little more about your GPU and your static/dynamic sky settings and if you normally see the sky as pink, if you don't mind sharing.

GPU is ATI Mobility Radeon X1400

The sky outside is showing pink as well. Precipitation is rendering correctly in front of the pink sky. Switching to static sky gives the correct background.

Okay -- thanks for the details. Your card does report that it supports shader model 3.0, but there's something about it that it's definitely not supporting. I'll have to look int that further so that it automatically switches to static skies on your kind of card. Thanks!

Okay, in for 0.534:

* Put in a check so that if the GPU doesn't support vertex programs that it won't try to use Unisky (which was resulting in a pink sky).

* Put in some logic so that the caps of the GPU get dumped to the output.log file in the AVWW_Data subfolder. Thus if someone is still getting a pink sky or similar, they can send us those caps and we can make the adjustment appropriately so that it automatically switches to static skies on their type of GPU.

I'd love to hear if you still get the pink sky when that comes out if you switch to dynamic skies again. What should ideally happen is that it should automatically switch you back to static skies, but if it doesn't then I'd love to have your output.log file so that I can make sure that it does.

Thanks for the help on this!

After patching to 0.534, it did not auto-switch to static skies. I'm attaching my output.log.

Thank you! That has all the info I needed. I should be able to get it resolved with that for the next version.

Okay, this should do it for sure, but I'd love to hear back just to be verify:

* Graphics cards with a pixel fill rate of less than 3000 megapixels/second are no longer allowed to use dynamic skies; on most of them, the performance would be too horrible in general to actually play with, and in some it actually just goes directly to a pink background instead of even drawing the sky.

Thanks!
