Summary0006890: Energy Pulse in MP missing where i aim
DescriptionWhen i fire a shot in a cave a little above head-height in the distance it actually ends up passing my cursor by a couple cm on my screen (as such never doing damage where my cursor is aiming).
I noticed it first several days ago when i was using target lock, and assumed that it was just pathing prediction being off, but when i started to only manually aim i realised it was happening aswell.

Thought it might be because of me standing on the floor, and the shot somehow bouncing off that / having its starting position altered to avoid colliding and glueing to the border, but its also happening when i'm standing on a platform in the middle of nowhere in the cave with no wall near me (or even in sight)

It's also not a set difference that its aiming up, because the same happens when i aim a little below feet-height in the distance, only now the trajectory is passing my cursor below.
And it happens in several other directions, basically take every NNE, NEE, SEE, SSE, SSW, SWW, NWW, NNW direction and it appears to happen. (used a compass to replace the up/down left/right perspective which i hopes explains the direction easier)

This isnt happening to me in SP, so i'm currently wondering if its a Toll's world is old issue, or a MP issue.

(Quoted as from how i posted it on the forums)

EDIT:
Just realised i should've checked to see if it happens on a server i host myself, appears to only happen on Toll's indeed so unless its something that gradually creeps in its not going to need a fix.

I'm guessing this has to do with latency. It's firing at the target position based on the location that you are at the time that the ability is triggered. I don't know why this would happen under more latency, but that is the only thing that really makes sense.

Even with really horrible latency simulation turned on, I can't duplicate this. If you're able to duplicate this in 0.917, any information on how to do so would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm still capable of managing this in 0.919
I'll upload a screenshot showing where i aim

The farther i aim the worse the effect gets, if i'm aiming close to the border of my screen then the shots miss by 3 to 4 cm on my screen.

Are you running at the time, or standing still?

doesn't actually make a difference, though its easier to make a screenshot while standing still.

Well, if you're running it does make a difference, because then it's going to miss by nature of logic: your cursor is moving against the background as you run, and when you fire your spell the spell goes at where the cursor was when the spell was fired.

But since you've moved the viewport since then, the spell appears to "miss" because it's hitting where your cursor was in game coordinates, not where your cursor now is in screen coordinates. Which is actually a direct hit.

If you're standing still and missing, though, which clearly you are, that's a different matter, though.

Ah right, you were just inquiring if the screenshots in question involved me standing still.

Went completely over my head, sorry about that.

Hmm, it being specific to a particular server seems fishy. When 0.926 is out and Toll's world has updated to that, give it another try (preferably shortly after the restart) and let me know if it still happens. If so I can run a copy of Moara locally and try to reproduce it.

With Chris's recent fixes to projectile accuracy, I think this is fixed :)

Just tested it on Toll's Moara, it's still happening.

edit-
Added information:

The problem isnt present on a server located in North America (Wandering Nomads)
I'm personally from europe, and as i recall Toll's server is also located in europe.
