| Description | This is not a bug persay, but a question. :). So, my internet connection is provided to me through a port in my apartment wall and I have no access to the router itself. Can I still provide a server or is that just not possible? I don't know if the port I'm forwarding through is being blocked. I can connect to other player servers. -King | ||||

Hmm. That can be a real pickle, even for those that are able to configure their own routers. Perhaps a button in the server GUI that would have the central server simply test to see if it can establish a connection to the game server? It wouldn't actually solve the problem of not knowing which port is open, but it would at least allow you to test if the one you're using works. |

For 0.928: * Added a mouseoverable "Networking Help" label to the server window that shows the normal networking-help text, which has also now been amended for AVWW. It includes a mention of PortForward.com, which has tons of resources on this issue. Notably, it has something that lets you test whether a specific port of yours is open. While in theory we could build such a test into AVWW, there are plenty of existing tools for that :) |
