Summary0007087: The three types of Use Ability bindings are either confusing or broken
DescriptionI'm trying to change my bindings so that 1 and LMouse activate different abilities. (It's easy to press 1-6, so I want to move the LMouse to 7 and have them increment from there.) However, I can't find a way to do this without remapping all of my Use Mouse Ability keys. I tried using the "Switch Highlighted Ability Slot To Next" command to make slot 7 the highlighted one, but unexpectedly that changed what 1 does.

It seems like pressing 1 should always activate the first action bar item, and "Use Highlighted Ability" would be the keyboard binding to activate abilities based off of the highlight. As it stands, both bindings always activate the same ability and that just seems odd.

What you're looking for is actually Switch Highlighted Ability Slot to next. With that one thing mapped, you can hit it and shift the mouse buttons around as much as you like.

There were other uses for the other kinds of bindings, but it was mainly for mapping keyboard keys to be able to fire at the mouse cursor; it's something used by a few players, but not something to generally try to remap.

Yea, unless you're trying to play mostly-keyboard-only, ignore the mouse-ability and highlighted-ability bindings. Their descriptions are fairly elaborate, I believe, though I suppose there's always more info to give ;)

Keith, anything you can do to make those descriptions (and the names) more clear is appreciated. You know the use cases better than I do for those.

"Switch Highlighted Ability Slot" is actually a misnomer now, too, as it just switches the left mouse button slot rather than also the keyboard slots; so I imagine that a lot of folks just look past that.

In the end I just remapped "Use Mouse 7" to LMB and so forth.

By the way, it would be helpful if the key mappings would warn you when a key you've chosen conflicts with an existing definition.
