Summary0007514: AVWW: Dungeon Map Alignment/Orientation Bug
DescriptionI noticed that the dungeon map seems to have a strange alignment/orientation issue that causes it to align to the bottom-left of the screen, align to the bottom-center sometimes, and, as I believe the default should be, align to the bottom-right.

Here are some images of different chunks to demonstrate the different alignments:

I have attempted to see if changing the map scaling and map size would do anything, but the only change was that it'd often times make the dungeon map smaller in scale, but it kept the strange alignment.

This bug has made the game fairly unplayable if I want to have the ability to see the dungeon map along with the hotbar. I did not see anyone else post this specific bug.

Thank you very much!

It's actually working as intended -- the dungeon map is always aligned to the bottom right at all times, and all those screenshots show it as aligned to the bottom right. However, it looks wrong because you have not yet scouted the dungeon to see all the nodes that are in there. If you explored the entire region, you'd see that all of it aligns perfectly with the bottom right of the screen.

I strongly recommend against increasing the dungeon map size as much as you have unless you actually have a monitor that is using EyeFinity or something along those lines. Generally speaking, 150% of the normal size is going to be pushing it even at 1920px wide of a monitor; anything above that was put in there just as flexibility for people with really extreme setups.

Also note that you can hold Shift and use the arrow keys to move the dungeon map out of the way if you wish, but every time you change chunks it's going to jump back to bottom-right aligned.

Hope that helps!

Disregard this post, I am starting a new report. Thank you!

As it sounds like it is a "design feature" instead of a bug, I am changing this report into a feature request and submitting the hold-shift arrow key bug as a different report.

Attempting to change my dungeon map scale to 150% (as well as 100%, and 300% which is where it is barely acceptably sized) causes the same issue to happen. I left and re-entered the chunk just to confirm that the map did not need to be reloaded into memory to resize itself. Follows are screenshots showing as much:

http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/562/2012050400007.jpg
http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/8126/2012050400008.jpg
http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/262/2012050400009.jpg

Also, holding down shift and using the arrow keys did not move the dungeon map (it moved my character as if I was not holding down shift). I also tried holding down shift and using WASD, but this replicated the same conditions.

Specifically, I am suggesting that the map continues to automatically align itself to the right hand side, but that a border (this need not be visible, of course) constrains it to the bottom-right hand side, making sure that it does not end up blocking a vital part of the UI. The map would need to scroll to display the character's position, and if there was a manual way to scroll the map inside of the border (perhaps use the hold-shift arrow keys to do this) this would allow for larger dungeon map scales.

I'm playing at 1920x1200 on a 17" laptop screen, my friend was playing at 1680x1050 on a 17" laptop screen, and when I tested it on my wife's 23" 1920x1080 display, and 150% is acceptable on it although I like 200% more, but the same issue happened, no matter what we changed the scale of the map to in the options.
