Summary0010179: 0.707 User entering area, getting stuck immediately
DescriptionIn multiplayer, players that are not the host entering an area shortly after the host are stuck in place immediately after arriving. This is not the case when you proceed further in the area, such as going into buildings. They must suicide pill to become unstuck as far as I know. We only waited about ten seconds before coming to such a conclusion.

Does this also happen if they go in before the host?

I do not believe so. I can test it with the same guy some time tomorrow.

If you wait a non-specific amount of time (like 20 seconds?) you get warped to a random point somewhere in the map. This happens a LOT in the let's play videos I posted on the forums. Specifically it happened to the camera man (Knight) and me (when I intentionally got stuck in the floor, not by this bug sometimes).

Okay we recorded another session, and this time I have an explanation that will help with fixing this.

It seems to happen when there are a minimum of 2 players in the chunk, and the player that is to get stuck is paused. So when you load into a map and the first-time-entering dialog fires off, you pause... And the same for boss rooms. This can cause you to sink into the floor. This happens less often to the host, I think, but that might be because I usually go in first... Still, Knight gets stuck all the time even if Khadgar goes in first, and yet I usually don't. In this manner, anyway.

That was the important part. Here's another way to do the bug: If you pause while moving, you will continue moving for a brief moment before you actually are paused. During this period you can sometimes clip into terrain and get stuck. It is EXTREMELY easy to do once you get the hang of it, or if you have storm dash, but once again it requires you to not be alone in the chunk. It's still very doable if you're the host. You can either mash pause and jump while under a very low ceiling, or storm dash jump into a wall. Pause right before you hit the wall. Once you're inside the wall, you can sometimes storm dash jump FURTHER into the wall... You can "dig through" walls like this, if you manage to get through before you get teleported. This one was fun to abuse/test, heh... I'm sure we'll cut most of the trying-to-teleport footage out, but maybe some of the funnier teleports will be in the video. (We were trying to warp past a bad slice combination, the bug Khadgar reported)

Haha, interesting. Thank you for coming here (I actually watched part of one of your videos) to elaborate further.

I will probably try the teleporting-through-bad-slices method you just detailed if only to progress into some level up windmills that had that extra square that prevents progress.

For 0.710:

* Fixed a number of bugs where players would sometimes continue moving in their current direction (or continue moving through the arc of a jump) while paused/pausing in multiplayer with another player in the chunk. This could result in the player becoming stuck in the terrain due to the suppressed collision rules during the paused state and the local client's authority over the local player's movement.

Thanks :)
