Summary0001027: Alarm posts spawning waves.
DescriptionI've been playing a match with double alarmist AI's and after clearing a couple systems the AI sent in waves into two dead and cleaned systems. The waves did not spawn from the wormhole, but rather from the alarm posts that were left after killing the command stations of the AI. I am not sure if this is a bug or a feature in the game. Just throwing it out there. I could get a screenshot, but it I would have to dig through save files.

Also, there were no warpgates or command stations in any systems connected to the systems that the spawns came out of.

I've yet to try to make it happen again since the recent updates to the game.

Was it literally a wave, with a countdown timer and such? It sounds like it might have been a reinforcement, which would happen at the alarm post.

There was a countdown timer and all, not a random spawn. It behaved like a wave with a few starships and one fleetship type. I'll dig through my saves to find it and confirm what spawned and not.

Okay -- that still could be valid if there was not a better place for the wave to arrive and you were on certain difficulties, or have cross-planet waves enabled. It could also be some sort of bug, but it might not be worth hunting for since it could be valid and seems to be an isolated case so far.

Okay, I went and looked in the abilities in the tooltip for the alarm posts, and notice the line "Warp Gate - Full?" That means it's a warp gate, and can do exactly this. :)

Then that would bring up another thing I've noticed now that I see that. Does that also mean they can send waves through wormholes like normal warpgates? I've yet to see that happen since in that some game there is an alarm post through that wormhole in the screenshot that I never killed. It has yet to do anything warpgate'ish, but I am sure it would send a wave if I placed a station there.

Yes, that ability makes any ship work like a fully-fledged warp gate. That's how regular warp gates do their thing, actually.
