Summary | 0010785: Craggy Highlands not adjacency-purifiable
Description | I wasn't sure if this was a bug at first, but I realised that Craggy Highlands regions, contrary to what the indicators...indicate, will not be purified when an adjacent tile is purified. EDIT: This is can be quite a serious problem, particularly on higher difficulties.

Are you talking about the Stratospheric Citadels? You have to purify 2 adjacent tiles before those become available for purification (and subsequently, destruction). |
No, I'm referring to vanilla Craggy Highlands tiles. Normally when you purify a tile, all the tiles directly adjacent to it get purified. But if the tile adjacent to the one you're purifying is a Craggy Highlands tile, it will not be purified, contrary to what those little yellow lights that indicate which regions will be purified say. |
I can confirm that as well. It's a rather annoying, but not gamebreaking bug. |
On higher difficulties, it could make the difference between life and death (hint: it did). |
I can confirm this bug is present in 1.002. Screenshots before & after purifying an affected square, and the world file, are attached. Changed affected version from 1.000 to 1.002. |

Ah, I think this update from .800 broke it: All Craggy-Highlands tiles (not just the stratospheric citadel) are now immune to the amp-tower pulse. They probably made a mistake somewhere. Also, I'm puzzled as to why this hasn't received any attention. It's pretty darn major. |
Sorry, had not had this bubbled up to me. I can confirm that this is how it is intended to work. Craggy highlands are mountains -- in other words, they are "soft barriers." Unlike water or similar, they don't just stop you outright. And unlike the enemy towers, they don't require you to get NPC involvement. Like real mountains, they just take a while to traverse. |
By the way, this fix in 0.800: "All Craggy-Highlands tiles (not just the stratospheric citadel) are now immune to the amp-tower pulse" was to make that inline with the normal way that these work (where they are not adjacent-purifiable. The yellow region highlights showing that they would be purified actually is a bug, though, come to think of that. |
