Summary | 0011277: Deployable Wormhole Generator
Description | This one has a small set of associated additions to the game: The principle: an artificial wormhole connection can be created between two points in the galaxy to facilitate multiple wormhole defense and flexible deep-striking. This will be enabled by a cap-2 (non-scaling) Generator that can either be unlocked or captured by humans. The generator is slowly-mobile and a valid exo-target. When powered-down, it is possible to move it through other wormholes and re-deploy them at diferent parts of the galaxy. Assuming that it is an unlock and not a capturable, it must be built in space (not a starship). Activating the generator has an exorbitant power cost and a 2:00 waiting-time. I cannot move while powered-up. In return, two such generators will provide an instant link. Travel is two-way and initiated by ctrl-clicking. Will the auto-pathing code have problems with these? If it is capable, then enable the possibility that AI ships will attempt to travel through the generator instead of destroying it. Especially important when one end is close to a human homeworld! On the AI-side, if these are capturables, then seed two in the galaxy. If these are unlocks, then seed several throughout the galaxy including their homeworlds. The AI will only use them to transport units directly to/from the homeworld. Along with an optional AI-plot, enemy waves can attempt to establish a reinforcement beach-head by using these portable wormhole generators. The difference is that their generators take only 30 seconds to power-up, and once powered will spawn units from the AI's strategic reserve, or draw them from the AI's home planet. Destroying the other end situated on the AI home-world (hopefully under a forcefield) will stop this happening for that particular AI... until they build another one.
