Description | It's the one mechanic in the game so far that honestly doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me and seems rather out of place. Not to mention it's a little confusing, particularly how city buildings only get half captured if the central building isnt taken yet. Particularly considering how long it can take to actually manage to do that, especially early on. When I first saw this happen, with the buildings with the white marker, I thought it was some sort of funky glitch. A simple "destroy" mechanic might work better (or at least the option of choosing that as an additional setting?). Wreck a building, and instead of just being "captured", it simply crumbles, leaving a "rubble" tile (could have the effect of slowing units down). Which of course could always be Smited and re-built if need be. The current mechanic also makes less sense with resource tiles, as many of them are going to be at least somewhat close to military buildings, so depending on the location they tend not to stay captured very long before they're just immediately re-wrecked by the team that originally had them. Even more the case as siege units level up, as they can possibly do it in just a couple of quick hits. | ||||

I think the fact that the mechanic was split before was the thing that was confusing you, yes? In terms of the town buildings they were always more sensible (aside from the lack of ability to repair, which is lately in there). And now everything is town buildings, so I'm quite happy with how that turned out. I agree that at the time you made this report it was... funky. |
