Summary | 0011349: Special Forces Redeployment issue
Description | Although not as common as it once was, the AI will occasionally grab ships from the planet under attack (where the Spire fleet is group 2) to put them into carriers on the same planet, only to have them be redeployed basically upgrading and repairing all the ships on the planet. EDIT. Just had this happen to me twice in the current game. I have saves after each time that are 2 minutes apart. I noticed it happening a few times as well in this game. Loading the first one and letting it run might cause it to happen again, but this is the closest that I have a save before this happening. The AI lets ships out and out as the Spire fleet kills them, then suddenly the game will stick most if not all AI ships on the planet into carriers. Then redeploy them. Group 2.

Good grief. That "Wall Of Spire" (more like "Wall Of Beams") is incredible. I think it almost melted by lowish-end laptop along with the leading edge of the enemy fleet. Anyway, I ran the test for a while and carriers are only deploying ships on that planet, not being created from them. This may well be due to various changes I made to the carrier auto-deploy logic in 6.028 which you don't have yet, but when that release is out (probably Tuesday noonish) take another swing when you get a chance and let me know if you see the problem again. |

Ok, I tried both of the new saves, but both ran through to the destruction of the human forces on Aidan (the planet was named something like that) without any redeployment of ships on that planet into a carrier. Lots of dumping ships out of the carriers, though. |

I can throw up the next two new saves I have, but it is happening. But normally after I have been playing for a while and in big fights. Is it possible that the AI thinks that the planet has been cleared (Say because it targets all just died) And due to how long the game has been running, it redeploys them before it can get new targets on the planet? That would explain why it only happens to me in the largest of fights. (We talking dozens of Spire cities worth of fleet here) |
