Summary0011892: Beachhead Turrets on AI world not auto-tragetting all AI units
DescriptionLoad the game and switch to the Hasyar system (far right).
There, you'll see a beachhead of turrets on an AI world. These turrets (especially Sniper) will auto-target and kill fleetships and most Guardians, but some Guardians are being ignored.
You can manually target them, and the turrets will shoot then, but auto targetting isn't taking place for these few AI units.

If they are darkened and not lit up, this is normal behavior. They are trying to not wake up sleeping targets as it's often better to let sleeping dogs lie.

If you want them dead, then go wake them up or manually target them with the turrets. Shift + right click can set a target list for them.

As far as I know, Guardians CAN'T power down. I've don't think I've ever seen one do so, at least, and in this case they are not dim like low-power fleetships are.
Also, I'm pretty sure that AI units do not spawn in low-power mode, and the turrets should have been shooting at them as soon as they spawn.

I've seen this issue as well

Some defensive AI units do spawn in stand-down mode, but not all.

The thing it is trying to avoid is "freeing" them when they are not "aggrod" (trying to fire upon you, or already freed). This is a state that is independent from stand down mode, even though the AI makes some attempts to keep non-aggrod defensive units in stand down mode.

Sadly, there isn't really a visual way to tell this short of going into debug mode (F3) and checking the "current orders" of the ship in question.

I have checked the current orders. It's always "Guarding [xxx]", a guardpost or command station or something.
The truly odd thing is how inconsistant it is. Fleetships are being fired upon, as are most guardians. If I leave a beachhead alone, after an hour or two there might be one or two guardians (and no fleetships) in that system.
