Summary0001200: Heavy damage auto retreat for player ships.
DescriptionSince tugs are gone I request some mechanism for heavily damaged ships to automatically head to a MRS/fortress/rally point at some health threshold [reclaimed ships are "smart enough" to head to a MRS and CoN units head for a regen structure] why not have a slider (and enable/disable toggle) to set a retreat threshold of 10-50% for regular ships to head for an in system MRS, Fortress, or Rally point.

I actually kinda like how this is a Neinzul 'feature'. Although if the proposed MRS/Engineer changes go through tugs might be a good thing to have.

I see the rationale behind this, but the only reason I added it for the Neinzul ships is that they die automatically over time, and so this was a way for them to be at all useful in a defensive FRD context.

With other ships, this is something I definitely don't want to do, because I don't feel it adds anything gameplay-wise: all it does is create yet another way to buff the survivability of your fleets without actual thought or particular effort on the part of the players. It's the same problem as with the engineers and MRS at present. When players want to retreat and repair, that should be a player decision, rather than something that happens without player intervention as just a "game playing itself" sort of thing. Certainly a lot of parts of the game are automatable, but these sorts of tactics aren't an area where I want to take the automation, for the reasons outlined above. Hopefully that makes sense.
