Summary0001240: Candy Tech - Trade ship gift
DescriptionCauses the trade ship to path toward this beacon (which costs a significant amount of resources), and which then consumes the gift building and continues on its way. Allows the player to drag the trade ship to a certain system, at the cost of resources. Only one can be placed at a time (as more than one wouldn't even be useful, really).

Pretty interesting actually, though would only be usable when Zenith Traders are enabled for a game.

Could perhaps have a penalty to balance the benefit. Like 3x waves while the gift is intact. Since it could be a beacon, it could be emitting a signal that enrages the AI as well. :p

Since the gift is supposed to cost "significant" resources, the penalty could just be that you have to pay 100k metal+crystal or more to even have enough money to get the trader's attention.

Pretty cheap way to get to decide where you want to build ion cannons, mass drivers or whatever. If I could just pay resources to decide what happens in the game, it'd make everything really boring. That's the thing about things in AI War. Almost everything with significant benefit has a risk involved. ;)

The wave penalty would just make sure there would always be a risk involved when you effectively decide to control where the traders move. Kinda like golems. You control them, you get multiplied waves.

I like HitmanN's solution, for sure.

Was talking with CogDissident this evening and mentioned that when the trader shows up and noms the gift, you might get a slight reduction in the price of the next item you buy, but certainly not more than the cost of the gift itself.

Out of scope for now, but possible for later. Possibly good for the community dlc poll suggestions.
