Summary0012503: Self destruct underwhelming
DescriptionI was very intrigued when I found a piece of equipment that gave me the self-destruct ability. As a test I activated it, expecting a massive explosion, but there was only a single tile explosion (the one I was standing on). Very underwhelming.

I want to run into a throng of bots, cackling maniacally and saying "See you in Hell, candy boys!!! (maybe obscure simpsons quote).

Maybe increase the graphical radius of this explosion. It needs to be made much more epic.

Just tested this myself. The actual AOE looks right, but it's not drawing the explosion particles on all the tiles in radius-of-effect, for some reason.

And the mechanic could stand to be a lot more interesting. Either way more explosive, or less single-use :)

More KABOOM good.

Actually just thought of something quick so it's probably not very good, but it could also give an additonal short flash grenade effect (maybe in a slightly larger radius beyond the explosion) which stuns/blinds enemies for a few turns. Or short circuits them so they go berserk shooting randomly. Or something.

Would it be possible to create something more like this:

For example, it explodes in a certain radius and then flames move the across the map for a few turns. Would be great to see something epic like that.

For 0.914:

* The Self-Destruct-Level part stat and ability have been reimagined as "Overload".
** The effect is pretty similar, except that instead of instakilling you, it just hits you with the aoe (like if you shot an AOE weapon at yourself somehow). It also only does 25% normal damage to you, though this multiplier may need tweaking.
** The end result is that it's basically a point-blank-aoe weapon that drains your shields instead of ammo. We are confident in your ability to make hilarity ensue.
*** More to the point, we hope this ability's potential hilarity will better compete with Stealth for your propulsion slots, on at least one exo.

* Fixed a bug where the self-destruct (now overload) ability was not drawing explosion particles on all tiles in the area of effect.
