Description | #IN SHORT# This ship would be slow and weak, somewhat expensive, possibly starship size, low ship cap. It only has one purpose. To attack Force Fields. Basically, it's like a very slow Autobomb that does massive damage to Force Fields. #MORE DETAILS# The damage inflicted by the ram could be relative to the FF's HP. It could, for instance, halve FF's remaining HP. Thus you can't use only rams to kill FF's, but still need your bombers and whatnot to finish the job. #BLAH BLAH# "Wouldn't this cheapen force fields?" you ask. Why would it? It's likely the ram wouldn't survive to the FF unless you had already weakened the planet, and are able to escort it to the force field(s) safely. The main scenario where I'd see myself using this is on planets that I've basically cleared already, but there's a command station or something else important under a high-Mk forcefield, and I'd otherwise need to keep bombarding the forcefield for a long long while, with very limited resistance while I do that. At that point it'd be handy to escort a ram in and weaken the FF with it, to speed up the process. If you're good at establishing a safe route though, you might be able to use it in early offense too. It would likely be weak to sniper and siege fire though, so you'd need to clear out long range weapons and fast ships to be able to safely escort it, because the AI would have high priority to kill the rams. | ||||
