Summary | 0013091: Sometimes engineers don't repair if non told to do so - maybe resource-limited group related?
Description | In attached savegame there is a mercenary fighter that is not auto-repaired by engineers. It's close to the hole. Selecting engineer and then clicking on the fighter force eng to repair it, as usual. I'm not sure what causes that, but I think it is related to "limit use of resources" for a group. Indeed, mercenary dock is in group #0, that has a limit set on resources (ie: it will not build if resources are < X ). In this way, also repairing is not allowed (according to tooltip). So I decided to remove damaged ships from group #0, but still they are not repaired. A strange thing is that trying the same with normal (not-mercenary ships) seems to work (ie: ships are repaired as soon they are removed from the limited group). I first found it in a real game, but I tried to reproduce it in attached one.

found the reason, thanks to this old post (http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php?topic=10709.0) it's not related to control groups or similar, but to the threshold of "not assist big project". Ok, it's written and explained, but still is not immediately clear during a game. Further, it seems that most (if not all) mercenary ships have a max cost of 480/s. Maybe default value can be raised to 500? it will include fortress, by the way (max: 433/s IIRC) |
